Good morning all and welcome to our WWDC product release update! We had an absolute cracker here last night with massive changes to the overall laptop line, the release of the new iPhone and Safari 4 coming online in an official capacity. We also saw a release of US pricing for Snow Leopard and a launch date for this scheduled at the end of September 09 for Australia. Let's move onto the updates!
MacBook 13"... Previously you will remember that we had three models in our MacBook lineup with one White polycarbonate unit, and two 13" Aluminum units. The Aluminum models have now been moved to the MacBook Pro model range with some significant enhancements overnight, leaving the single White polycarbonate machine alone in the MacBook category. MacBook Pro 13"... The MacBook Pro 13" has been overhauled in a major way while still retaining the original form factor from 'MacBook days'. The new model contains the same non-user replaceable battery as the MacBook Pro units with a reported maximum of 7 hours of life, a new SD Card Slot, Firewire 800 port, backlit keyboard and a very nice screen upgrade that pumps out a fantastic 60% more in colour gamut. We can now also offer some serious hard drive space and memory, with a maximum of 500GB and 8GB available respectively as upgrades. Model-wise in the 13" range we have two offerings at a very nice price-point. MacBook Pro 13" MacBook Pro 13"
MacBook Pro 15"... Again we've seen some nice updates to to the line with the incorporation of the non-user replaceable battery with 7 hours of life onboard. In addition to this upgrades are additionally found in the way of the ExpressCard Slot being substituted with a SD Card Slot, and an improved display. With speeds now up to 3.06GHz, a maximum of 500GB hard drive space (or 256GB SSD) and a top end of 8GB of RAM we've also had some hefty pricing reductions that make this an attractive offering. MacBook Pro 17"... The new 17" MacBook Pro unit retains the ExpressCard slot with a 500GB drive onboard and 4GB of RAM as standard. CTO options include a 3.06GHz upgrade from the normal 2.8GHz CPU. MacBook Pro 17" |

Stayed tuned for Australian carrier pricing when the iPhone 3G S is released in Australia on June 26th. Mac OSX Snow Leopard... 'Better, Faster, Easier' is the mantra of this new OS that has been eagerly awaited by the masses. Shown at WWDC this year the preview offered a glimpse of a much streamlined environment, with installation a whopping 45% faster and 6GB smaller. (Those of us on a Laptop like this news!) :) For those of you technical, Apple also promoted Snow Leopard's ability to use Grand Central Dispatch and OpenCL standards to allow applications to more fully harness the grunt of available multi-core processors. Snow Leopard will be available in September. If you buy a new Mac from today, it will be a free upgrade +$14.95 postage. More info can be found here: www.apple.com/au/macosx/ |

Safari 4 Official Launch... While it has been around in BETA for a small while, the official release was made last night. Apple have been talking about 'seeing the web in a whole new way' with Safari and they haven't been kidding here. The new version is available for Mac and Windows users and is, for want of a better term, FAST. (4.5 faster than Safari 3 thanks to the 'Nitro' engine under the hood.)
