OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard ready... Afternoon all, There aren't a lot of visual changes from the current 10.5 Leopard, but under the hood the OS has been overhauled extensively. Apple has included a lot of new foundation technologies that software makers can use to create more powerful and faster programs. Some of the immediate improvements include:
The biggest news is the upgrade price. It's only $39 for most people who will be currently running 10.5. If your using 10.4 or older you can by a box set that includes the current version of iLife and iWork for $229 which is a pretty good deal! For offices or studios running OS X Server, Apple has been kind enough to trim the pricing of 10.6 Server to $699. Whereas previously there was a 10 user and unlimited user version with a substantial price difference, the new 10.6 Server now allows for unlimited users! One last thing that we think is important, is to encourage you to work out a backup solution BEFORE you upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard. As with any major upgrade of an operating system it so so so important to have a backup of your existing OS and hard drive contents just in case things don't go quite right. If you’re using Time Machine, make sure you have a an up to date backup completed on an external hard drive. If you don't have an external hard drive for your backup, give me a call and I can make a few suggestions.
